CUT UP
Inspired by weaving techniques of native people in Latin America, the idea of this project is to re-use old advertising posters. For this purpose two posters with the same or different size were manually cut in stripes and then weaved together in order to create the warp and the weft. The final result shows how the posters’ information overlaps with the patterns, creating a new layer where the aesthetic of two different languages is mixed in a hand-made surface, that can be used as wallpaper or room divider.
This project was nominated in 2017 for the
8th Recycling Design Award and will be exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art MARTa in Herford, Germany.
