Mariana Giraldo is a product designer specializing in textiles and surface design. She is inspired by everyday objects, culture and customs all inform her practice and interest for handcraft and geometry.
Research and experimentation into different materials and techniques allows Mariana to create projects, that have a focus on process and sustainable practices.
After finishing her studies in product design in Colombia, Mariana moved to Berlin to study textile and surface design at the Academy of Arts Weißensee. This study was complemented with an Erasmus Exchange at the Chelsea College of Art & Design in London.
In 2017, after a few years working in interior textile design and the fashion label blaenk, she founded her own design studio. Her work includes interdisciplinary collaborations, freelance consultancy and design work alongside a constant development of personal projects.

Mariana Giraldo ist Produktdesignerin, spezialisiert auf Textilien und Oberflächen. Sie findet ihre Inspiration in alltäglichen Objekten, Kulturen und Gewohnheiten. Ihre Arbeit ist von dem Interesse an Handwerk und Geometrie geprägt.
Die Recherche und das Experimentieren mit unterschiedlichen Materialien und Techniken spielen fur sie eine wichtige Rolle in der Entwicklung von Projekten. Prozess und Nachhaltigkeit liegen dabei im Fokus ihres Interesses.
Nachdem sie ihr Studium im Produktdesign in Kolumbien abgeschlossen hat, kam Mariana nach Berlin, um Textil- und Flächendesign an der Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee zu studieren. Dieses Studium ergänzte sie mit einem Erasmus-Austausch an der Chelsea College of Art & Design in London.
Nach mehreren Jahren Erfahrung als Textildesignerin im Bereich Heimtextilien und für das Modelabel blaenk, gründete sie 2017 ihr eigenes Design Studio. Ihre Arbeit umfasst fachübergreifende Kooperationen, freiberufliche Leistung und eine kontinuierliche Entwicklung eigener Projekte.
